24/11/16 - Black Friday four day sale

Tying in with this year's trend to extend Black Friday way beyond its usual 24 hour limit, FSOLDigital is having a four day Black Friday sale, starting today. You can grab vinyl, CDs, digital releases and t-shirts at a discount here. Meanwhile, two new t-shirts - the glitched lines representing Humanoid, and the Archived EP cover - are now available from the site.

Saturday 19 November 2016

19/11/16 - Artworks 2nd Edition

The 'Artworks 1' booklet has been reprinted with a different cover. The download EP that comes with it now features the track 'Undulating'. And you can grab it here.
I think that's all.

24/10/16 - new track, Obollis, on De:Tuned compilation

A track that featured on the last FSOL Night by Touched Music, 'Obollis', will get an official release through the De:Tuned label on a 6xLP compilation called Brainbox. The compilation will also feature tracks by Spacetime Continuum, DeepChord, Meat Beat Manifesto, μ-Ziq, Locust, Speedy J, Scanner, B12, and a host of other renowned electronic practitioners.
Brainbox is out on 18th November 2016. Check out some pre-order linkes on the De:Tuned Facebook.

07/10/16 - Environment Six Plus release + info

Right, this has turned out bigger than we expected. Both Environment Six and Environment 6.5 (beautiful FSOL lack of consistency in the titles there) feature 23 tracks. That's 46 new FSOL tracks. 47, if you include the fact that the LP of Six features an exclusive track. Speaking of the vinyl editions, Six omits seven tracks (and adds the bonus track), whilst 6.5 omits five tracks. Given that they've not been shy of pushing the format to its limits with 30 minute sides earlier in the series, this suggests that the CD + digital editions are long. Could we have two 75 minute albums on our hands here? Either way, this is an unexpectedly long musical journey that is startling in comparison with the decreasing run-times of the previous volumes (with the unofficial 5.5, Life in Moments, running to 38 minutes).

Vinyl editions aren't shipping until the 28th October, although all orders will receive an immediate download of the CD/Digital version of the album. The only thing that's slightly disappointing is the artwork, which looks more like an Electric Brain Storms cover than the epic landscaping of previous albums:

The albums can be purchased separately or as bundles, and are on sale now from FSOLDigital. Oh, and the calendar is there too.

Thursday 6 October 2016

06/10/16 - FSOLDigital calendar

Alongside the release of Environment Six+ tomorrow, FSOLDigital will also launch a 2017 calendar. The calendar will feature 12 new FSOLDigital artworks, but purchasers will also be given a free track to download from FSOLDigital at the start of each month throughout the year. Effectively, a new album released over the course of the year.

06/10/16 - More E6 updates

The 2CD set will be called Environment Six Plus, and will consist of two full length albums: Environment 6 and 6.5. Both will be available in CD and LP formats. The boxset of both CDs looks like this:

06/10/16 - Environment Six out tomorrow + bonus album

In a surprise turn of events, Environment Six is being released tomorrow (7th October). None of us expected that. It's also intriguingly being released alongside something called Environment 6.5. No news on tracklist etc. The album is being released as double vinyl, CD, MP3 and FLAC. No cover yet. Roll on tomorrow!

Saturday 1 October 2016

01/10/16 - Environments 6 teaser

Actually, we don't know exactly how the album title will be spelled as so far we just have 'E.6' (maybe that's the title), but here's a teaser video:

The last suggested date was an October release, although we reckon it could be early November at this point. Either way, it's finally coming!

15/08/16 - Humanoid updates

This morning, Brian Dougans changed his Facebook image to this. Then a few hours later, this video appeared on the Genocide Dolphins indie game YouTube page: You may remember the game for its use in the promo clip for the original version of Post Human around the time of the Touched 2 compilation.
Leon Mar's Arcon 2 alias reappeared on the third Touched compilation last month, and is now in action remixing Humanoid. He's now done remix work for the guys as Leon Mar, Oil and Arcon 2.

Anyway, the most exciting thing about all this is obviously that it seems that progress on new Humanoid record is once again in motion, and it's quite possible we'll be seeing a release sooner rather than later. Although probably not before October, as that is the rumoured month of release for Environments 6.

29/07/16 - Touched & Modular

The third, and apparently final, Touched compilation is released today, and features the beautiful new FSOL track 'Night Scape' (which also appears to be the default playing track on the Bandcamp page). Grab the 417 track compilation, which also features new tracks from Autechre, Plaid, B12, Holly Herndon, Nils Frahm and countless other electronic greats, as well as seven tracks from members of our forums, on the Touched Bandcamp. All money from sales goes to Macmillan Cancer Support.

In other news, there's a new t-shirt with a Modular synth design available on FSOLDigital. Usual sizes and prices.

16/06/16 - Accelerator CD reissue

Just when you thought you owned enough copies of Accelerator, here comes another. This version actually features the new artwork and bonus tracks from the Record Store Day limited vinyl, and marks the 25th Anniversary of the album's release. It should be released on 8th July according to Amazon, although we recommend waiting for a pre-order to appear on FSOLDigital before ordering.

28/04/16 - Synthi A vinyl tracks update

Good news for those not wishing to own two copies of the Synthi A album, or those without a turntable: the four exclusive pieces to the vinyl edition of Ignition of the Sun are now available as a download EP entitled 'Sounds From...'. This also means the LP edition - "created from new edits of the original tracks" - is now available to order from FSOLDigital. Click right about here.

Meanwhile, you can listen to one of those new tracks, Wave-Length, in this new video:

Monday 25 April 2016

25/04/16 - Synth-A vinyl coming on 3rd June

The Synthi-A album, Ignition of the Sun, will be receiving a vinyl release on 3rd June. Of particular interest is that it's a different mix of the album, with a different running order and three exclusive tracks: Wave-Length, Dilation of Time and Lifecycle; this version, however, doesn't include the track Disparity in Oscillations Ab (unless, of course, it's been re-named - this wouldn't be the first time that's happened!). Expect an FSOLDigital update in the next couple of weeks. Full tracklist:

1. Ignition Of The Sun
2. Oblique Towers
3. Wave-length
4. Garden Of Syn
5. Rutt Etra
6. Dilation Of Time
7. Return Beyond The Inner Voice
8. Moon In Dissidence
9. Rivers Of Occasion
10. Sirens From A Distance
11. Opalis Amar Xam
12. Pathway To I
13. Lifecycle
14. Bridge Between Tal
15. Liquid Light Voids

13/04/16 - BBC 6Music mix this weekend

Sourced from the FSOLDigital Twitter and BBC 6Music website, this weekend FSOL will be part of Nemone's Electric Ladyland show. The show starts at midnight on Friday, and runs for two hours. The website blurb states: "As part of record store day, the show features a special 30 minute guest mix from legendary electronic production duo The Future Sound of London."

08/04/16 - Touched FSOL night report

I think it's fair to say last night's show on Touched Radio was a success. We had well over a hundred listeners and the chat room was very busy. A lot of exclusive and rare material was played, along with some lesser known pieces and a few 'hits'. A great selection of tracks from 1992 - 2016 were played. It's likely many hangovers were nursed today.

Here's the final total for completely unheard tracks:
Four untitled tracks + lots of answerphone environments from the FSOL Mix at the start
Two tracks of unknown title - one not given, the other Martin lost
Peirch
Algae Floats the Water in Super Technicolor
Night Scape
Morning Mist
Ever Really Happened
Oboliss
Ocea
Supergrass - The Sky (FSOL Remix)

Alternate versions of the Bryan Ferry and Stereo MCs remixes

Tracks heard in the previous FSOL Night:
Arc City
Santana (formerly Carlos)
The JAMS - It's Grim Up North (FSOL Remix)

Plus 'official' confirmation that Cold Dark Field from the Covert album is FSOL.

Oboliss will be on a compilation called Detuned out later this year.
Night Scape will be on Touched 3, out this July.
The rest are 'in the holding pile' according to Brian. Chances are there's at least one here we'll never hear again.

07/04/16 - Touched Radio FSOL Night tonight

As mentioned in the previous update, Touched Radio are holding their second FSOL Night this evening. Here's the Mixlr event. It has been revealed that the show will be opening with an exclusive mix made by FSOL - we're guessing it'll be Electric Brainstorm 11. Tune in later and join the chat. We'll also have a commentary and updated tracklist over on the forum.

Saturday 2 April 2016

02/04/16 - next FSOL Night on Touched Radio this coming Thursday

Following the popularity of last year's FSOL Night on Touched Radio, Martin Boulton of Touched will be hosting another evening of FSOL classics, remixes and exclusives. The exclusives, given by the band, include the first play of the new FSOL track to be released on the Touched 3 compilation this summer.

The show will be streaming from http://mixlr.com/touched-music/ this coming Thursday, 7th April, from 8PM BST. You can join the Facebook event for the show here.

21/03/16 - Blackhill Transmitter album now available

The Blackhill Transmitter album, featuring exclusive edits of EP tracks and new material, is now available from FSOLDigital. Info as follows:

Available on Heavyweight (180g) Vinyl + MP3, 320kbps MP3 and FLAC

Blackhill Transmitter comes from the FSOLdigital stable of projects. Credited to Dougans / Cobain it was produced and engineered by Yage.

Blackhill Transmitter has been compared to a Four Tet from the 1970’s, combining Krautrock with granular synthesis. It is a journey through 15 tracks which blend in and out, interspersed with hauntingly distorted sounds of old lost transmissions that still circle the Earth.

FSOLdigital purchases also come with a free 3 track digital ep entitled “Contained by Silence”.

04/03/16 - Blackhill Transmitter album tracklist?

There have been rumours circulating for quite a while about a potential physical release of Blackhill Transmitter material, particularly given how well it has been received in the fanbase; the number of releases, plus the t-shirt, have suggested that the project is a notable one among the FSOLDigital aliases. Brian has all but confirmed it in the past, but now we have what may be a tracklist. A postcard received with the Synthi-A CD this morning reads:

Warmth of Heart
Impasse
Book of Revelations*
Hac
Karmin Line
Desolate
Landslide
Cease to Function
Battery Room
Returning
Recovery
405 Lines
Loko Motive
Five Twenty Seven

Hopefully we'll have further news on this soon!

The long-awaited EMS-based album has been given a title - Ignition of the Sun - and will be released under the artist name Synthi-A on 4th March 2016. The release will come on a variety of digital formats - FLAC, wav, mp3 - and CD, and will be available exclusively through FSOLDigital and Bleep.com. Look! Bleep even have an artist page for Synthi A, even if there's no content yet. Still, you can hear a teasure track, 'Oblique Towers', on Vimeo.

Meanwhile, in a distinctly more rock-based world, Paul Weller has been adding contributions to the new Amorphous Androgynous album. Clips of 'Money to Burn' and 'Mantra' are on Gaz's Facebook - check out our all-purpose new AA album thread on the forum for links and info.
