01/11/18 - 30303 EP out now!

Humanoid's 30303 EP, featuring the new breakbeat version of 'Stakker Humanoid', as well as new tracks 'Skatter' and 'Blunt', is available from FSOLDigital now as a 12" and digital download, alongside a new Humanoid poster.

23/10/18 - Stakker 30th anniversary remake and October calendar track

Coming in November, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of 'Stakker Humanoid', is a new 12":
30 years ago this month (Nov 1988), Humanoid - 'Stakker Humanoid was the UK's no. 1 song in the dance charts - it would stay no. 1 for five weeks, also charting in the UK top 20 at no. 17. Now regarded as an acid house classic anthem and hailed as the first real UK acid house track to break the top 20. Humanoid music from 1988 was also used in Stakker - Eurotechno, now housed in the museum of modern art (New York) and cited as a major influence on early Aphex Twin music / Rephlex.

To celebrate, Humanoid (Brian Dougans - FSOL) has reworked the original into a 2018 breaks monster with two equally killer tracks on the b-side: 'Skatter' and 'Blunt'.

The 12" is due out on 30th November, with copies likely shipping earlier from FSOLDigital.

In other news, this month's calendar track is yet another '90s piece which almost made it to Archived 9, 'Transmission Edit 6'.

27/09/18 - Archived 9 now available to order

Archived 9 is now available to order from FSOLDigital.com. The album is available in CD, LP, FLAC and 320kbps mp3 format. Physical copies will ship from the 29th September, aiming to arrive on the 'official' release date of 1st October. Purchases of the CD and digital come bundled with a download of the vinyl-exclusive tracks. Archived 9-themed hoodies and t-shirts are also available from the site!

25/09/18 - September's calendar track and Archived 9 trailer.

This month's calendar track, 'Memories of a Yesterday', has been sent and should be in subscriber's inboxes now. It was an Archived 9 candidate that didn't end up selected, and if this is the quality of a track that didn't make it, then we're in for an incredible album next month.

Speaking of Archived 9, the first trailer for the album, featuring the first look at an animated version of the new Spike model, is now on the FSOL Instagram.

14/09/18 - FSOLDigital Mixcloud now open

To complement the Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble Mixcloud page that opened earlier in the week, the FSOLDigital page is now active, opening with Electric Brain Storm 3.

Monday, 10 September 2018

10/09/18 - The Pod Room comes to Mixcloud & Archived 9 pre-order

Fans have been asking after the various Essential Mix, Electric Brain Storm and Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble radio shows, mixes and podcasts since they were taken down from The Pod Room due to complex rights issues, and now the band have responded by starting to upload the various shows to Mixcloud. So far there is an MPB page, containing the first upload, 2009's A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble Exploding in Your Mind Vol. 8. Have a listen here

Hopefully more should follow in the not-too-distant future.

In other news, Archived 9 pre-orders should be appearing on FSOLDigital later this week.

10/09/18 - Archived 9 information and misinformation

Some Archived 9 news then.

CD tracklist:
1. Ocea
2. Semi Conscious Participant
3. Silent Midnight
4. Halfer
5. Embodied
6. Super Tide
7. Without You It's Meaningless
8. Oska Traveller
9. Slow Moving World
10. Propagate
11. Photographs Of An Object
12. A Constantly Changing Mind
13. Confirmation Bias
14. These Days
15. Riverbed
16. Extruded
17. Views Of A Empty Sky

LP tracklist:
A1: Ocea (6.38)
A2: Semi Conscious Participant (2.27)
A3: Silent Midnight (4.12)
A4: Halfer (4.34)
A5: Embodied (3.47)
A6: Super Tide (3.22)
B1: These Days (4.31)
B2: Slow Moving World (1.53)
B3: Propagate (3.41)
B4: Without You Its Meaningless (5.15)
B5: Light (3.05)
B6: Extruded (3.29)
B7: Views Of An Empty Sky (3.32)
B8: Plenary (1.24)

This means we have five CD exclusives:
'Oska Traveller'
'Photographs of an Object'
'A Constantly Changing Mind'
'Confirmation Bias'
'Riverbed'

And two LP exclusives:
'Light'
'Plenary'

So that's a double purchase for collectors. 'Riverbed' and 'Propagate' are from the 2017 Calendar album - bizarrely, 'Propagate' started life as a Humanoid track.

Various sites have release date listed as 29th September, 5th October and 19th October so far. It'll be on FSOLDigital before most of them no doubt, but then a certain German store was shipping My Kingdom Re-Imagined before FSOLDigital release earlier in the year, so who knows. Still, it's not a FSOL release without some confusion...

05/09/18 - Archived 9 out in October

Pre-orders for Archived 9 have begun appearing online. Juno have it down as coming soon, while an eBay listing provides a date of 5th October. The cover seemingly features no album title, the band name rendered as FSOL, and a warped Dead Cities cover complete with the new version of the Electronic Brain 'Spike' model. Does the Dead Cities cover mean we'll end up with 'My Kingdom Path 6' and other DC-era material? Probably not.

20/08/18 - August's calendar track

The eighth track of the 2018 calendar will be in subscriber's inboxes now, an Environment Six-era piece called 'Blacked Out Window' that sounds quite unlike any FSOL track we've heard before. There's also a new EBV logo on the track's accompanying image.

03/07/18 - SX-1 on FSOLDigital

There's now a page for people to pay their £350 deposits for a FSOL : Digitana SX-1 on FSOLDigital, which includes ten samples of the kind of sounds it can make.

Those with a slightly more modest income may be happy to know that FSOL : Digitana are currently hard at work finalising the HALia, which will come bearing a considerably more modest price tag in the not-too-distant future.

21/06/18 - New alias on June's calendar track

This month's calendar track comes in the form of the track 'Control Vista' from the forthcoming EP by new alias Filter & Pulses. It's a very minimal, abstract track, unusually so for the band.

17/06/18 - We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal strings & single

Gaz has been posting live videos throughout the day on Facebook, charting the rehearsals and recording of the string section for the new Amorphous track 'We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal'. Links to all ten videos can be found on our new album updates thread over on the forum. He also revealed this snippet of information about the forthcoming longform single:

"This track will be an album length single this year with full album mid 2019"

20/05/18 - Library Music on wider digital distribution

In an unusual move - and one we seemingly missed for some time - it seems two of the band's library music collections can now be easily purchased by general listeners. Some tension exists in the fanbase at the existence of a huge bulk of Dougans / Cobain tracks that are unable for fans to purchase, existing only in library music collections available to industry professionals licensing them for use in TV, film, radio etc. However, two recent collections - The Research Remixed and Jazzstep are on Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon and, undoubtedly, all the other major digital distributors. The former is listed under the name Tripletone (the alias of Cranium Pie's Robin Appleton, whose tracks were remixed by Brian, Gaz and Will White under the name Bugbeats for this release), and the latter is simply listed as Brian Dougans, Garry Cobain, Will White. The two sets are around half an hour each and quite enjoyable, particularly The Research Remixed, which was the first Dougans / Cobain / Appleton / White project, a lineup that has since gone on to record last year's Paradigmension album under the name Ai.

11/05/18 - SX-1 prices and dates go live

Email news today for those with large wallets

FSOL - DIGITANA  SX-1 UPDATE

Having spent considerable time and investment in designing, building and testing 3 prototype SX1 units, and having gained, in the process, a better understanding of the total costs involved, we are in a position to announce the price of the SX-1 as £3500+V.A.T.

We will start to take advanced orders in June. Information on the procedure for placing an order will be given in due course, directly to those people already signed up to the email list and also via the FSOL and Digitana Electronics websites.

Please note the initial production run of the SX1 is for 25 units.

06/05/18 - Abbey Road Isness features alternate, unreleased versions

In a move we probably should have predicted, knowing the album's history, it seems Brian and Gaz haven't actually offered an official release of the 2002 mispress version in their Abbey Road Version of The Isness, but a new unheard mix of the album. It's all uses versions from the mispress edition - six of the tracks are identical - but 'Osho' and 'Divinity' are alternate, extended mixes, 'Meadows' features an entirely new outro including elements of 'The Seasons Turn', 'Her Tongue is Like a Jellyfish' and 'Mello Hippo' lack their orchestral outro and intro respectively, and 'Galaxial' cuts off the 'I love you' outro section. 'Egghead' is also in a different place on the tracklist, and 'Yes My Brother' is missing. So there you go kids, yet another version of The Isness to collect.

29/03/17 - SX-1 close to sale

Brian has revealed in a Facebook comment that they are hoping to begin taking deposits for the SX-1 in May. Interested buyers are directed to the mailing list for updates.
With the SX-1s rolling out this year, it seems hopeful that the HALias will be following not too far after.

09/03/17 - Ramblings vol 2 later this month.

Pretty much what the title says - look out for the second Ramblings of a Madman book at the end of March.

Wednesday, 7 March 2018
