31/12/20 - 2020 Calendar Album now complete

This year's Calendar Album comes to a close with a remix of 'Into the Belly', the track the band provided to the third Covert album for Touched Music. The mix is more sparse than the earlier version.
Will we have a 2021 Calendar Album? We'll find out in the coming week, I suppose...

Tuesday 1 December 2020

01/12/20 - FSOL Bandcamp now online

The FSOL Bandcamp is now up and active. The link is https://fsol.bandcamp.com/.

The page has the bulk of the FSOLDigital era material available as digital downloads. At time of writing, the following releases are missing:
FSOL - A Gigantic Globular Burst of Anti-Static
FSOL - Archives 1-3 (Enhanced Versions)
Part-Sub-Merged - Four Forests
Polemical - Hand Made Devices
Heads of Agreement - The San Monta Tapes
Humanoid - Your Body Sub-Atomic
The Pulse EPs
Six Oscillators in Remittance - Cloudscraper
The Jazz Mags - An Open Window
EMS : Piano - One
Suburban Domestic - Stillness
Sand Sound Folly - Salient Moons 1973
Glass Girl - What's it All About
Synthi A - Ignition of the Sun (CD Version)
FSOL - Artworks EP
FSOL - Ramblings EPs 1-3
FSOL - The S:X One Live Improvisations
FSOLDigital Mix
The Fears and Fantasies of the Unconscious Mind
Calendar Albums 2017-2020
All the Pod Room stuff
Other artist releases (Neotropic, Seafar, Herd, Ross Baker, etc.)

Whether these will appear at some point remains to be seen.
The page does, however, have the first ever digital release of Life in Moments, and limited copies of the A Controlled Vista 12" picture disc, both of which are very welcome - particularly the former, which has effectively been out of print for five years. Along with the ACV 12", Cascade 2020 CDs can also be bought from the site, suggesting that physical releases will be available there going forward.

Friday 20 November 2020

20/11/20 - Immortal releases no longer on Bandcamp.

As per the title. No idea.

20/11/20 - Amorphous Bandcamp and Found Sound 2

The Amorphous Androgynous Bandcamp is now active! The site only features digital releases at the moment, although physical stock will be added in the next few days. The material present is a fairly comprehensive range covering the majority of this century's Amorphous releases (other than the Monstrous Bubble compliations, of course), including Alice in Ultraland, which is back under the band's ownership once again, and the 'Divinity' single, which gets its first non-promo release here. There are, however, a few omissions, listed below:

The Isness is the Abbey Road Version, which Gaz has gone on record to state is his favourite of the two. This does mean there's no presence of The Lovers or The Isness on the Bandcamp, as well as the 'final' mixes of Elysian Feels, Mello Hippo, Guru Song, Galaxial, Egghead and Divinity - and, as it's the 2018 Abbey Road cut, the original versions of Her Tongue and Meadows. It also means The Otherness repeats two tracks from the original album.
The Peppermint Tree doesn't include bonus track An Absurd Consequence of Living in Absurd Times (or it's a hidden bonus track maybe?).
The Cartel Remixes is the digital edition rather than vinyl edition, meaning those vinyl-only remixes are still vinyl-only.
Promo-only edits and mixes of Mello Hippo and The Witchfinder, last year's two calendar tracks, and their Oasis and Beatles covers are also not present.

Still, minor niggles aside, it's great to see them embracing the site, and bringing the bulk of the catalogue together in an easily accessible manner. The FSOL page is currently expected to open next week.

In more electronic news, Touched Music's Found Sound 2 compilation will be released on 27th November, and, according to the Facebook announcement, is due to feature a FSOL's 'Night Scape' (previously heard on Touched 3) alongside the previously announced Humanoid piece.

Monday 16 November 2020

16/11/20 - New tracks on Alan Dougans Mix

Alan Dougans - Brian's brother, frequent photography contributor to FSOLDigital releases, and occasional remixer of Humanoid as part of DXU:555 - has created a new mix entitled And Once Again, I Can Flow. Excitingly, it features three unreleased FSOL tracks: 'E7 Untitled (The Willi Wolf Wee Man remix)', 'Aria' and 'BriHarp featuring Anamika Singh'. At least one of those - the first - is from Environment Seven, albeit in remix form here. Have a listen here.

Friday 13 November 2020

13/11/20 - FSOL on Bandcamp

The official FSOL Bandcamp will be launching later in the month. Click here to follow the page and get updates with all releases. And for the psych lovers among you, click here for the official Amorphous Androgynous Bandcamp!.

13/11/20 - News from the Touched Mixlr

A couple of tidbits from Martin in the Mixlr chat this evening. Firstly, a second Found Sound compilation will be released on Touched at the end of the month, and will feature the Humanoid track 'Tiny Machine Birth', originally heard in partially truncated form on the first A Controlled Vista. Secondly, tonight's mix, entitled Mind Maps, may get a released on Touched in the future. Given the material, there may need a little ironing out before that, however. And speaking of the material, here's what was played:

Andy Cato - The Coastal Path (Yage Interpretation)
B12 - Orbita Tolv (Rebuilt By Humanoid)
Min-Y-Llan - Lot-e (Synthi A - Analogue Designs)
Min-Y-Llan - Cycling Sundays (Yage Rebuild)
FSOL - Rain Forest
Humanoid - Scary Worlds
Humanoid - Tiny Machine Birth
FSOL - Untitled 41
Karsten Pflum - Borg Acid (Humanoid Remix)
Carbinax - Idiome (Humanoid Rebuild 3)
Blu Mar Ten - Shifted Night (FSOL Remix 2nd)
FSOL - Was There Some of the Time
FSOL - Untitled 42
2nd Mouse - High Jinx Dark (Humanoid Remix)
Yage - Despite (Light limited image)

08/11/20 - Touched Mixlr info

As previously reported, this coming Friday - 13th November - will see the broadcast of a fourth Touched Music FSOL show on Mixlr, hosted by Martin Boulton. Martin has shared more information about the show. The show will start at 8PM UK time, and feature an hour of unreleased and exclusive remixes and tracks by FSOLDigital artists.

A full tracklist & info - if made available - will follow after the show. See you there!

Friday 6 November 2020

06/11/20 - Immortal pre-orders on FSOLDigital

'We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal' is now available for pre-order on FSOLDigital. The main six-part EP is available as CD, LP, MP3 and FLAC; a CD edition of the MPB Remix album has also been added. Exclusive to FSOLDigital is the promised two-CD pack, including both albums packaged in an exclusive slipcase. Orders will ship in two weeks.

Thursday 5 November 2020

05/11/20 - Slipcase for Immortal confirmed

Mr. Cobain has confirmed on Facebook that FSOLDigital will be stocking a limited edition version of 'We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal' with two jewel case CDs in a slipcase, in the same style as the previous Cartel and E6+ double packs.

05/11/20 - Two separate Immortal CDs coming

Juno and Rough Trade are the first places to list the Immortal CDs, and have revealed that the two versions are being released as separate CDs. Take a peek at the Juno listings here. It's quite possible that, like The Cartel and Environment 6+ before them, these discs will be available as a 2CD pack with slipcase from FSOLDigital. Time will tell - if an early shipping from the official store happens (as is likely), then we'll probably find out in the next couple of weeks.

Tuesday 3 November 2020

03/11/20 - Touched Music Mixlr FSOL Night #4 on 13th November

It's been a while since we had a Touched Music FSOL night on Mixlr. And so a new one is lined up for 13th November, to celebrate the release of the A Controlled Vista 12" picture disc on Touched Revolutions (which is turning up as a pre-order on a number of stores already). More news soon.

Friday 30 October 2020

30/10/20 - FSOL Calendar, small Amorphous updates

A few bits of small note. The other day's Sylophone Gen X-1 track, 'Talus', has appeared as this month's calendar track. More information on how such a piece was made from a single synth was included in the email:

Every sound created using

GEN X-1

Processed through various foot pedals and then sampled using a Akai s3200xl

Pitched reversed and further internal fx

RESULT - FSOL TALUS

So that's that.

In other news, it appears Listening Beyond the Head Chakra isn't as finished as we expected, as Gaz has mentioned on Facebook that the album is "expected to" contain tracks. Which is also at odds with the nine track version listed in the 2020 Amorphous calendar. Who knows. He also confirms the 2CD edition of 'We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal' is due out at the same time as the LP, currently penned in for 20th November.

Thursday 29 October 2020

29/10/20 - Immortal LP release date

The multi-path single of 'We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal' has a release date! Or, at least, the LP edition does. The six track record will be out on 20th November. As with previous psych-era singles, the tracks all have their own titles, rather than Parts / Paths. The release is credited to The Amorphous Androgynous & Peter Hammill. A release date for the 2CD is likely to follow soon - given the short lead time on CD manufacturing, it might still drop on the same day. Here's a look at the cover:

And the tracklist:
We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal
Synthony On A Theme Of Mortality
Hymortality
Psych Recap
The Immortality Break
Physically I'm Here, Mentally Far, Far Away

We've obviously heard excerpts of 'Synthony...' and 'Physically...' as previews on the MPB edition of the record, while the first track will likely be the same as the album version, which we've heard in progress over the past five years. In the press release, 'The Immortality Break' is described as containing "John-Bonham-like drums", suggesting a pounding breaksy version - which would tie in nicely with some of the Cascade 2020 versions - while 'Psych Recap' isn't mentioned at all, hinting that it might be a short interlude piece, maybe at the start of side 2.

Sunday 25 October 2020

25/10/20 - New track, Talus, using the Stylophone Gen X-1

Stylophone report that their new Gen X-1 synth has been used by Brian on a FSOL track called Talus. Now, we know the band have a fondness for old and battered gear, but this piece of kit is a few levels above the standard Stylophone. The full track can be heard by checking the YouTube link below:

Sunday 18 October 2020

18/10/20 - Immortal 2CD and paths LP on their way to be manufactured

Gaz today posted artwork proofs for the 2CD edition of We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal, which will feature the five path longform version of disc one, with the Record Store Day MPB Remix on CD2. These have, apparently, been sent off for manufacture. The LP edition of the paths version has also been submitted to the pressing plant; while the CD edition should only take a week or two for manufacture, the wait on vinyl pressing at the moment means we're still looking at a late November / early December release date.

Wednesday 30 September 2020

30/09/20 - A Closer Listen 12" picture disc

A few weeks ago we reported on a brief snippet of a photograph that Martin Boulton shared on Facebook, with what looked like a picture disc for a FSOL release. We can now reveal that the album is the first A Controlled Vista mix, originally released by Touched at the end of last year (or, indeed, early this year, as the mix wasn't available until the box set was released), and later released as a download from FSOLDigital. The album will be coming out on Touched Revolutions in the coming weeks.

30/09/20 - Blackhill Transmitter Calendar Track

'Obtainable', the Blackhill Transmitter material announced yesterday, has turned out to be September's calendar track!

Tuesday 29 September 2020

29/09/20 - New Blackhill Transmitter on its way

Brian shared an image of what could be a new Blackhill Transmitter record on Facebook today. It's called Obtainable. It could also be September's calendar track, admittedly, so time will tell...

Tuesday 8 September 2020

08/09/20 - Forthcoming picture disc on Touched Revolutions

A forthcoming picture disc on Touched Revolutions has been teased by label owner Martin Boulton. The album is believed to be the first vinyl release of a previously CD-only album. More news soon.

Sunday 6 September 2020

06/09/20 - Immortal 2CD set on its way

Gaz recently mentioned on Facebook that they are planning a 2CD set of 'We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal', with one disc containing the 'longform single' version in five paths, and the second disc containing the Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble remixes released for Record Store Day last week. The longform version is currently due for late November / early December, so it's possible the 2CD set will come along at the same time - or possibly early next year.

Thursday 3 September 2020

03/09/20 - Cascade, Immortal and Papua on FSOLDigital - Immortal CD in the works?

The Record Store Day releases, their digital counterparts, and the Cascade 2020 CD are now all available to order from FSOLDigital (or they will be when the site goes back up - it hit a 508 error shortly after the releases went up). A couple of days early, but no complaints there!

In other Immortal news, Bryan White, a player on the album, has mentioned on Facebook that the MPB version will receive a CD release somewhere down the line. As it's already been mentioned by Gaz that the Rabbit in the Moon mix arrived too late for pressing, it's possible this and maybe other material will feature on the CD edition. We wouldn't even rule out the longform single being a 12"-only release and the two versions being compiled as a 2CD set.

Friday 28 August 2020

28/08/20 - Immortal clips online

Gaz has shared a five minute video featuring clips of all the various MPB reworkings of Immortal on Facebook. Despite each track being labelled, the clips all segue into each other, to the extent that it's slightly difficult to tell some of them apart. We're sure it'll all make sense once it's released. Which is, of course, tomorrow. At 6PM, once all the COVID-riddled high street stores have closed, various online retailers will have the green light to sell their copies. It's not yet known whether FSOLDigital will be among these, or if both the Immortal single and the 12" edition of Cascade 2020 will come online next week. Digitals of both and the extended CD version of Cascade are expected to debut at the same time.

Tuesday 25 August 2020

25/08/20 - Amorphous Cascade CD advertised everywhere

It wouldn't be a FSOL release without some sort of bizarre miscommunication somewhere, and this time, September's CD edition of Cascade 2020 seems to have been listed by the distributor as an Amorphous Androgynous release, as we've so far found it for sale under that alias on sites including Resident Music, Juno, Banquet Records, Craft & Vinyl and Merchbar. Good luck to them trying to sell a record under the completely wrong artist name. Admittedly, this kind of thing will undoubtedly be just copy-pasted over, but one does wonder how little attention the staff must be paying to not notice that the front cover states it's a FSOL release. On the plus side, Boomkat, Rough Trade and Amazon seem to have managed to get it right.

Monday 3 August 2020

03/08/20 - Cascade 2020 CD release date and tracklist

The awaited Cascade 2020 CD will be available as general release on 11th September (a slightly earlier FSOLDigital release is most likely, as usual). The tracklist, then:

1. Cascade Part 1 Recreated
2. Flood Of Reflection
3. Amid The Overwhelm
4. Cascade Part 6
5. Cascade Part 4 Recreated
6. Dark Hours Of Your Being
7. Sluice
8. Multiple Falling Objects
9. Deep Sea Of Clouds
10. What Falls Away Is Always
11. Brief Silence In The Distance
12. Things That Mattered
13. Cascade Part 7

Thus the CD includes three tracks not on the RSD LP ('What Falls Away is Always', 'Things that Mattered' and 'Cascade Part 7') compared to two extras from the past few years; 'Brief Silence in the Distance' moves from track 5 to track 11 compared to the vinyl, which will almost certainly be to do with segue and flow. As ever, these three bonus tracks will only be on CD and digital purchases and will not come as a download code if you buy the vinyl from a store. If you're buying the vinyl on Record Store Day itself, you'll have to make a separate purchase to get these three tracks. This is the first full FSOL record since last April, so we're all very excited to hear it!

Friday 17 July 2020

17/07/20 - Kurakura album out now

Kurakura's debut album, Lockd Room Mysteries, is out now. The album, like last year's Smoke EP, has been produced and mixed by Hed-Set, the new project by Brian Dougans and Will White. It can be streamed and downloaded here.

17/07/20 - Future: Turned now on FSOLDigital

The new Humanoid EP, Future: Turned, is available to pre-order now from FSOLDigital on 12", FLAC and MP3. Order here.

Edit: An error with the MP3 zip file, which was previously believed to be because it was a pre-order, has now been resolved, and all downloads should be working immediately.

Sunday 12 July 2020

12/07/20 - Environment Seven track Northern Point on Facebook

Our first glimpse of Environment Seven comes in the form of 'Northern Point'. A video of the track being performed in a live take at Brian's studio can be found on the FSOL Facebook. At nearly six minutes, it's much longer than the average FSOL track of late, and the overall sparse sound is somewhat reminiscent of The SX:One Live Improvisations - perhaps unsurprisingly, given what's seen on the video.

Friday 19 June 2020

19/06/20 - Humanoid - Future: Turned 12" EP out in August

Brian looks set to continue the onslaught of new Humanoid material with a new EP this August. The Future: Turned EP contains four tracks: 'We Come From the Future', 'Logique Abstract', 'Turned', and 'The Words of the Elders'. Whether the last track will be the same as the version from the Chipspeech compilation remains to be seen. The general release date is 7th August, although a slightly earlier shipping date from FSOLDigital would be unsurprising.

Monday 15 June 2020

15/06/20 - Touched Electronix 005 update

Touched Electronix 005, a double LP featuring the likes of 808 State, John Beltran, As One and Datassette, as well as Humanoid, is out on 9th July. The previously reported compilation opens with new Humanoid track 'Tower'. Pre-order from Bleep or Juno - both links also feature previews of all tracks.

Tuesday 2 June 2020

02/06/20 - Additional RSD reissue

On top of the previously announced - and eagerly awaited - Cascade 2020 and We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal (A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble Remix) (which is still being listed everywhere as simply A Monster Psychedelic Bubble), a third Record Store Day exclusive has been announced. The 7" the accompanied the 2016 RSD LP reissue of Accelerator, featuring 'Papua New Guinea (Andrew Weatherall Remix) (Edit)' and 'Stolen Documents (Accelerated Mix)', is being reissued as a standalone single, in tribute to Weatherall, who died this February. Both tracks are widely available on the 2016 CD edition of Accelerator, but the 7" has never been released on its own before. This will be available in participating record stores / COVID-catching-houses on 29th August, alongside the two other releases. Remaining copies will be available from FSOLDigital a week later, alongside digital versions of the two new records, and the expanded CD edition of Cascade 2020.

Tuesday 19 May 2020

19/05/20 - Yage remixes Min-Y-Llan

Min-Y-Llan, the project of Touched owner Martin Boulton, today released his album Snagged. Among the 17 tracks is 'Sunday Cycling (Reinterpreted by Yage)'. And another track called D_ougans, which may well be a response to the track 'Boulton' on Archived : Environmental : Views.

19/05/20 - Environment Seven and EP; RSD news.

If Record Store Day actually goes ahead later in the year - which is still looking incredibly optimistic (and dangerous) - Cascade 2020 and We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal will be released on 29th August.

In better news, Environment Seven is confirmed for release this year - accompanied by a tentative FSOL-style "soon", which could mean anything from a week away to six months - and will be released alongside a related EP! More news as it comes in.

Thursday 7 May 2020

07/05/20 - New Humanoid compilation track

Brian is keeping busy, with yet another new track coming out on a compilation. The fifth 12" release on Touched Electronix will open with the new Humanoid track, 'Tower'. Have a look at the art here.

Wednesday 6 May 2020

06/05/20 - New Humanoid remix in late June

Humanoid remixes 'Gone' or 'Before Chaos' (depending on whether you believe Soundcloud or Bandcamp) by Anodyne on a new triple LP release on the Analogical Force label. The album is out in late June and can be pre-ordered here. Clips can be heard below, with Humanoid starting at around 13:32:

Sunday 3 May 2020

03/05/20 - Kurakura - Smoke EP - produced by hed-set

A curio for you all today - hed-set is a new production project by Brian and frequent collaborator Will White (ex-Propellerheads). Their first work has been producing and mixing the Smoke EP by Bristol & Somerset based psych-rock outfit Kurakura. You can hear the EP here.

Wednesday 29 April 2020

29/04/20 - Record Store Day postponed. Again.

Unsurprisingly, Record Store Day has been postponed again. It will now be split over three days (?!): 29 August, 26 September and 24 October.

Releases will be split over the three, with an announcement on 1st June about which will be released when. So it looks like we'll be waiting until at least late August, possibly late October, for Cascade 2020 and We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal. Unless FSOL decide to sod the whole thing off and just release it earlier.

Why the fuck RSD aren't just promoting an online-only sale this year I don't know. There's no evidence to suggest that international lockdowns will actually be ended by August - or that they won't have started up again as winter sets in by the end of October - so there's still no guarantee these dates can be met anyway.

Monday 30 March 2020

30/03/20 - FSOLDigital response to COVID-19 - sale & releases

An announcement on FSOLDigital today reads:
Coronavirus (COVID-19)
FSOLDigital has suspended all postal sales for 3 weeks.
You can still purchase vinyl, CDs and merchandise but it won't be dispatched until the end of April - thanks for your understanding.
Stay safe people.

To coincide with this, the band are also offering the main digital catalogue with a 50% discount. This only applies to Dougans / Cobain releases, not including the calendar albums.

Five releases the sale does apply to are the new Humanoid and Yage digital EPs, and three A Controlled Vista mixes, out today.

Humanoid brings the KAAGE EP, after the promise that more material would be forthcoming. Six tracks, no additional info. We're hoping there's a 12" on its way - all physical releases are currently delayed because of the pandemic - but for the moment, there's MP3 and FLAC for certain. Tracklist:
01 – KAAGE (05:15)
02 – Static Objective (04:07)
03 – Aennuiosk (04:44)
04 – Event Null (04:29)
05 – Void Over (03:10)

01 – AP.BAC (05:11)
02 – Recause (06:50)
03 – Tunnel (03:26)
04 – Only If (05:40)
05 – Pygmy (07:19)

Finally, the A Controlled Vista mix, originally available as CD-only release on the Touched by Silence boxset last December, comes to FSOLDigital as a download, accompanies by two new mixes in the series, labeled 2.7 and 5.6. Tracklists of these are as follows:
2.7:

02 – INTEL COMM – Drive15
03 – FSOL – Deserted Roads
04 – THE BUBBLE HEADS – Frozen in the Air

05 – HUMANOID – Transparent Form
06 – THE FUTURE SOUND OF LONDON – Dreaming with the TV on
07 – THE FUTURE SOUND OF LONDON – Multiplying Mutations
08 – YAGE – Despite

Unlike the first volume, these contain previously released material as well as new tracks. Enjoy!

Thursday 26 March 2020

26/03/20 - Record Store Day tracklists

We have a tracklist for the Record Store Day releases! The LPs are currently due for release on Record Store Day, 20th June, although RSD wisely state that this is the date they're hoping for, and that further rearrangements may be necessary depending on the COVID-19 situation closer to the time. Anyway, to that tracklists. First up, Cascade 2020. It seems the approach is a mixture of the previous two re-recordings, with parts 1 and 4 from the original single being re-recorded, a la Yage, while a My Kingdom-esque 'Part 6' continues the journey. The rest of the album comes in the form of seven new pieces, inspired by, or thematically linked to, the original track.

1. Cascade (Part 1 - Recreated)
2. Flood of Reflection
3. Amid the Overwhelm
4. Cascade (Part 6)
5. Brief Silence in the Distance

6. Cascade (Part 4 - Recreated)
7. Dark Hours of Your Being
8. Sluice
9. Multiple Falling Objects
10. Deep Sea of Clouds

CD still due to follow on 26th June.

Secondly, We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal (A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble Remixes), which is still being listed on most stores as simply A Monster Psychedelic Bubble. Here, the tracks are being listed as original pieces, which are undoubtedly remixes and rearrangements by the listed artists. AA provide two tracks (with 'Synthony...' Part 1 expected to be on the standard 'Immortal' single), and a third under the amusing name The Amorphous & Dodginess alongside Regal Worm. Brian gets a track to himself as Stoned Freshwaters, while various psychedelic friends provide the remaining reworkings.

1. Future Children - "The Lutine Bell"
2. Regal Worm vs The Amorphous & Dodginess - "Gunter & His Evil Soul Sacrifice Orchestra Play Black Mass A Gogo"
3. Cobalt Chapel - "Hymortality" (part 1)
4. The Amorphous Androgynous - "Physically I'm Here, Mentally Far, Far Away" (Excerpt)
5. Cobalt Chapel - "Hymortality" (part 2)
6. Las Trompas De Falopium - "Somos Inmortales Nos Persuadimosi"

7. Stoned Freshwaters - "Everything Is Easy With A Little Persuasion"
8. Atomic Simao - "Gravity Bong"
9. Richard E Further Out - "Our Dominion"
10. Steve Cobby's Sweet Jesus - "The Persuader"
11. The Amorphous Androgynous - "Synthony On A Theme Of Mortality" (part 2)
12. The Flying White Dots - "Counting Down The Time" (part 2)
13. The Cuckoo Clocks - "Tomorrow, Time & Immortality"

A digital version is hoped to follow the LP, probably on the 26th too.

Friday 13 March 2020

13/03/20 - Record Store Day postponed

Record Store Day has been postponed to 20th June, due to concerns surrounding public gatherings in the light of the continually spreading COVID-19 virus. The CD edition of Cascade 2020 has been put back to follow the initial vinyl release, so will likely be available from 26th June.

Thursday 12 March 2020

12/30/20 - Australia benefit compilation out now

The Roel Funcken-curated compilation in aid of the Australian bushfire crisis is now available through Touched is available now, as a download for £7. The Yage track, 'Despite', closes the 35 track compilation.

11/03/20 - Yage track on Australia charity compilation

Roel Funcken of Funckarma is putting together a compilation in aid of Australia, particularly its wildlife, in the wake of the extensive bushfires of recent months. Among the 35 tracks listed is 'Despite' by Yage. More info on the project's Facebook page here.

11/03/20 - A Controlled Vista, Propagate

Copies of A Controlled Vista in the Touched by Silence box are now arriving. The first notable thing is that the disc plays as a single 49 minute track, with the various audio watermarks we usually hear on live mixes, making it play out in a similar vein to the two FSOLDigital Sampler releases from the past. No news on whether these tracks are exclusives or if, indeed, the album is a sampler for forthcoming releases. There's a brief rundown of the contents over on the forum.

Secondly, 'Propagate' turns up in a new home on Kontrapunkt 05 by the Kontrapunkt label, a 12" and digital compilation. Unusually, the track is back to being a Humanoid track, after its appearance as FSOL on the last Archive. The mix is identical to the one on the 2017 Calendar Album.

08/03/20 - More Touched by Silence to go on sale

30 more copies of Touched by Silence, the 11CD compilation featuring the album FSOLDigital presents A Controlled Vista, packaged in cardboard boxes, as opposed to the wooden packaging for the initial release, will be made available for sale through the Touched Bandcamp tomorrow evening (9th March, evening by GMT). For those who managed to order a copy of the first run, copies will be shipped this week.

08/03/20 - Further Cascade and Immortal info

A quick update to confirm that Cascade 2020 will indeed be released on CD, currently due to follow the week after Record Store Day. There are no plans to release We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal: A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble Remix on CD, although a digital release is still very likely.

04/03/20 - Cascade and Immortal for Record Store Day

With all the Record Store Day 2020 releases due for official announcement on Friday, Long Live Vinyl magazine has accidentally leaked them all. From this information, we've been able to discover that, unsurprisingly, we have a FSOL and an Amorphous release to consume on the day.

The Amorphous Androgynous presents We Persuade Ourselves We Are Immortal (A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble Remix). Although expected to follow the standard album-length single of 'Immortal', this remix and collaboration package looks to be released first. As it was given a release date of April by Gaz, it's perhaps unsurprising that it's the band's RSD release. Indeed, having RSD on a specific date has actually kept them to a deadline for once! The main single has yet to turn up for pre-order anywhere, so we can probably expect that in May at this rate, with Listening Beyond the Head Chakra to follow in the summer. The MPB remix album was given a soft announcement by Gaz just before Christmas. All the info we have about the release so far can be found here.

Back in FSOL world, the re-recorded & expanded singles series continues, not with the expected 'Glass' mini-album, but this time going back to the Lifeforms era with Cascade 2020. A very blurred cover suggests this will look unlike any other FSOL release, with what looks like a row of screenshots from the Cascade video on a black background. No info on a CD edition currently on Amazon and the such, but we'd be very surprised if one didn't come along at the end of April.

07/02/20 - Mental Cube EP

1990's Mental Cube EP is due for a slightly re-shaped reissue this month. Featuring the original two a-side tracks - 'Q' (the popularity of which inspired this reissue) and 'Chile of the Bass Generation' - the EP includes later single 'So This is Love' and Indo Tribe track 'In the Mind of a Child' (apparently originally planned for Mental Cube) on the b-side. The 12" is due out some time between now and 28th February, depending on the online store you order from, although no doubt FSOLDigital will have copies up in the coming few days. A digital version is almost certain to accompany the release on FSOLDigital, and there is some talk of an expanded CD edition to follow, although nothing is confirmed yet.
